Why do chocolate Labs die younger?

Short answer

VetCompass found chocolates’ median lifespan was 10.7 years versus 12.1 for black and yellow Labs. Researchers linked higher ear and skin disease rates to breeding practices common in popular chocolate lines, not to the brown color gene itself. Good breeding and ear care help.
